After graduating from the University of Alabama, Mary Rives moved to New York City to realize her long-time dream of becoming a fashion designer. A Birmingham, Alabama native, Mary Rives is inspired by Southern Gothic literature and the beauty of her childhood and hometown. Her background in dance and music also contributes to her design aesthetic and inspires her to incorporate movement into her personal collections.
Mary Rives' professional experience ranges across all categories of Missy apparel design, including knitwear at Dillards Private Label, bridal with LEIN Studio, lingerie and athleisure with Adam Selman, couture with Elena Velez, and most recently, Missy blouses and jackets for Walmart. Her ability to design in a variety of categories yet remain true to her customer, branding, and price-point sets her apart from her peers. A lifelong student, Mary Rives is excited to continue learning, connecting, and growing her skillset in New York's garment district.
